Virtual SeminarsWatching an Academic Curiosity Grow into Leading Technology: An Insider's View of Electrochemiluminescence

James L. Wilbur, PhD
Director, R&D
Meso Scale Discovery and
IGEN International, Inc.

Despite enormous scientific and economic incentives for innovation, there are still only a handful of techniques for making analytical measurements of biological substances. By comparison to most disciplines, the emergence of a fundamental detection technology is a rare and momentous event. The past fifteen years has seen such an event: the development and commercialization of electrochemiluminescence. This talk will chart the growth of electrochemiluminescence, from its discovery in academics to its current implementation in drug discovery, medical diagnostics and pathogen testing. It will present the fundamental physics and chemistry of electrochemiluminescence, address some key developments in its commercialization and provide a brief overview of the characteristics of the technology that differentiate it from techniques such as fluorescence, electrochemical methods and conventional chemiluminescence.

Who Will Benefit?

  • HTS Screeners of all Levels of Expertise
  • Scientists Using Detection Technologies
  • Assay Developers

A Virtual Seminar is one that you can "attend" and participate in right from your office. The savings are significant - no travel time or hassle, and no travel expense. Invite staff members to listen and participate too - all for one tuition fee!
