Legal Notice and Disclaimer

General Disclaimer, Liability Limitations, and Prohibitions. The information contained on this web site is provided by the Society for Biomolecular Sciences ("SBS") for its members and the general public in furtherance of its nonprofit purposes. SBS reserves the right, but has no obligation, to review and remove any statements, information, or materials that are posted by third parties onto this site, including the listserv, or statements, information, or materials that SBS considers to be inappropriate, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable that are e-mailed by third parties to any other persons. Notwithstanding the reservation of this right, SBS is not responsible for statements, information, or material posted by any third party.

SBS does not endorse, approve or certify information provided on this site, nor does SBS guarantee the accuracy, completeness, efficacy, timeliness, or correct sequencing of any of this information. Further, although the web site may include links providing direct access to other internet sites, the Association has not participated in the development of such other sites, and does not exert any editorial or other control over those sites. The Association, therefore, takes no responsibility for the content or information contained on those other sites and disclaims any and all liability related to such other sites. Use of this information is voluntary, and reliance on it should be undertaken only after an independent review of its accuracy, completeness, efficacy and timeliness. Reference to any specific product, process, standard, or service by trade name, trademark, service mark, manufacturer, or otherwise does not constitute or imply endorsement, recommendation, or warranty by SBS. In particular, references to the operations of the American National Standards Institute ("ANSI"), or participation by any member in an ANSI-related Listserv, do not constitute or imply SBS or ANSI endorsement, recommendation, or warranty of any company or its products or services. Posting of proposed standards in development by SBS on behalf of ANSI are not to be considered final until approved by ANSI, and SBS disclaims all liability related to use or enforcement of any such standards in either draft or final form.

SBS (including its employees, officers, directors, or other agents) assumes no responsibility for consequences resulting from the use of or reliance on the information on this site or from use of the information obtained at linked internet addresses. Further, SBS is not responsible for, and expressly disclaims all liability for, damage or loss of any kind arising out of use of this site. No guarantees or warranties, including, but not limited to, any express or implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular use or purpose, are made by SBS in connection with the use of this site.

The names, trademarks, service marks, and logos of SBS appearing on this site may not be used in any advertising or publicity, or otherwise to indicate SBS's sponsorship of or affiliation with any member, organization, product or service, without SBS's prior express written permission.

Listserv Use. The SBS site may include one or more listservs to facilitate discussion among its members and the public. All SBS Listserv users ("User") are responsible for their own communications and are responsible for the consequences of posting those communications. A User may not grant access to this service, through use of his or her personalized password and log in, to any other individual. SBS does not represent or guarantee the truthfulness, accuracy, or reliability of any of the material posted by Users or endorse any opinions expressed by Users. Users acknowledge that any reliance on material posted by other Users will be at the User's own risk. SBS is not responsible for screening or monitoring material posted by Users. If notified by a User of communications which allegedly do not conform to this policy and SBS's general web site policies, SBS may, but has no obligation to, investigate the allegation and determine in good faith and its sole discretion whether to remove or request the removal of the communication. SBS has no liability or responsibility to Users for performance or nonperformance of such activities. SBS reserves the right to expel Users and prevent their further access to this service for violating the service policy or SBS's other web site policies or the law and the right to remove communications which are defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, anticompetitive, or illegal.

Antitrust Disclaimer. It is the policy of the SBS to scrupulously comply with all antitrust laws. SBS reminds all of its web site users to guard against any communication or activity that could be construed as a violation of the antitrust laws. The antitrust laws prohibit competitors from entering into agreements, whether express or implied, to limit competition. Accordingly, discussion of and exchange of information regarding the following subjects should be avoided: terms of sale, discounts, advances, preferences, advertising allowances, plans for dealing with particular customers or segments of the market, suppliers, or competitors, concerted action to refuse to deal with or to boycott certain companies, and marketing plans on a geographic basis and any other discussion topics, such as business strategies, that could be construed to impose a restraint on trade and inhibit free and fair competition in the broadcasting community. Users should be particularly careful not to discuss prices or fees; agreements on pricing or fees are clearly illegal under the antitrust laws. Even general price or fee discussions by competitors, if followed by parallel action among the competitors on pricing or fees, can lead to antitrust investigations or challenges. In sum, each User must decide for itself, without consultation with competitors, how to conduct its business and with whom to do business. The penalties for violations of the antitrust laws can be very severe for SBS, as well as its individual members. SBS reserves the right to terminate access to any User who does not abide by these guidelines.
